Manufactured from pulped virgin cotton fiber, sterilized during manufacture and clean packed. Fully autoclavable, Nestlets are sufficiently pathogen-free for all purposes except gnotobiotic. Nestlets will not deteriorate in storage and are packed in extra-strength polyethylene bags. Shipped in dust proof, sturdy cartons.
| Rodents
are nesting animals. Investigation has well established that when they
are able to build nests, rodents are less disturbed by sound, light,
motion and temperature changes. The protective, insulating qualities of
a nest reduces animal loss. Nests also lend a greater sense of security
and, being more tranquil, animals are less aggressive, fight less, are
easier to handle, and cannibalism is reduced. This reduction in stress
results in greater weight gain, healthier and happier animals and more
valid models for research. |
|
Commercial cage beddings do not permit building of nests. Most
substances used as nesting materials suffer major drawbacks. Paper
contains sulfides and compacts when wet. Cloth, absorbent cotton and
other long fiber materials form strangling threads, which can maim and
suffocate. Other substances are ingestible, irritating, unclean, or
form barriers to the free flow of air. |

Test NESTLETS
Simply place samples
in a mouse cage on top of your present bedding. You'll be amazed at
what the animals will accomplish with it in only a few hours.
Samples sufficient for evaluation, available upon request. |

NESTLETS are the perfect nesting material. Congruous with the animals' natural instincts, NESTLETS retain warmth without obstructing airflow or humidity dissipation. Inert and non-ingestible, NESTLETS will not compact nor form threads or ligatures. They are soft and absorbent without being desiccative, non-irritating even to newborn young.
|
NESTLETS utilize the inherent instinct of rodents to shred and build nests with any material available. The act of shredding is a natural occupation, and exercise, therefore beneficial.
|
NESTLETS can create basic improvements in laboratory procedures, resolving many of the managerial and biomedical problems of the research laboratory. It is the first nesting material designed specifically to meet the needs of the animals-as well as the laboratory.
|
NESTLETS are economical. A few cents' worth will replace one pound of ordinary bedding and remain clean and odor-free for much longer periods. There is also considerable savings in labor, material handling, storage space and disposal.
|
FOR BEST RESULTS: Spread 1/4 inch of bedding over cage floor. Then, add 1 NESTLETS for every 20 square inches of floor space. (Proportions may vary with cage size, type and number of animals, temperature, etc.) Used this way, the cage will remain clean for long periods¬and-frequency of bedding changes not only represents great savings of material, labor, storage space and handling, but also significantly reduces animal stress.
